Baseball Is a Game of Numbers, but Whose Numbers Are They? - New York Times

This legal question over the ownership of openly observable and collectible baseball statistics is a larger issue of free markets. How can MLB and the players association possibly own their statistics. This will deflate a growing multi-billion dollar fantasy baseball market and re-route it back into a monopoly.

Not to mention it will make my hobby much more expensive.
